It's all about elevation and following/dodging weather patterns so a good weather app is essential. I also use the weather channel app. I'm currently in the eastern grasslands of Colorado and weather is perfect at about 4500-6000' elev. When temps get to high, I'll just cross over the rockies...

@BonBon - You won't walk out with a passport. They do a pretty rigorous background ck of all applicants,  especially post 9/11. As Virgil stated you can speed up the process for a hefty fee. However, I think expediting may not be an option when applying from another state, something I remember...
