    Exceptionally Tall Ladder Racks?

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be combing the internet for a used roof rack to chop up!

    Exceptionally Tall Ladder Racks?

So I'm in the process of converting an old E350 wheelchair van. It's a great van, with a nice tall roof that lets me stand up inside (a rarity in vans, since I'm 6'3"). But this feature comes with a problem - I'd like to mount my solar on a ladder rack that rides on the rain gutters, so as to...

Converting a Passenger Van for Urban Stealth - Options?

Thanks for the responses! I think I'll go with steve's suggestion of the plastidip, since I'm planning on lining the whole inside with insulation anyway. Will post pics when I've done it!

Converting a Passenger Van for Urban Stealth - Options?

So I finally sank the cash and got myself an old van off craigslist, and I'm starting to think seriously about my conversion. In addition to making the van livable, I also want it to be stealthy - meaning, I don't want people to think someone might be sleeping in it. Obviously, that means I'll...

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

Damn, that was an awesome post! It all makes sense, and was very descriptive. Though, looks like I'll be getting a conversion van, as long as the deal goes through on Friday. But I'll raise the roof and have a decent amount of room [emoji1]

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

Working 40-50 hours. Its salaried, so not much point in putting in overtime, other than looking like I'm working hard. My current schedule looks a lot like that, offroad. Wake up, go to work, go to the rock gym 3-4 days per week, then go home to take care of chores, read books and blogs, maybe...

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

Yeah, stealth really is a factor here since, ideally, I'll be sleeping around these lots for several years. High top vans seem a good bit rarer than the standard ones, especially with the longer cargo area. So I'm wondering if installing a high top on a standard van would be an option in my...

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

Hmm. Do you think it would blend better than the step van? The only thing is, unless I made some modifications to the body, the only way to ventilate (or get natural light) would be to open the big back door - exposing my living room to the world! I suppose this could be overcome with caution...

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

Thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards the step van myself, but it seems like ones that are within my budget are in short supply - I'll need to really be on top of it to score one at the right price. That plus the stealth factor is really why I'm here asking in the first place.

Looking at Van Options for Urban Stealth

So, kinda new here, so bear with me. I just got a job in a new city - the first one that actually pays me real money. It is a white collar job with lots of room for growth, friendly coworkers, and pretty good benefits. Needless to say, I can't wait to get out of it, so I'm committing to...

Well hallo thar! I'm new, so I'm posting with the newbies.

It seems like I'm pretty young, compared to many people here - I'm about to graduate from uni in a semester, so I'm looking into options to make sure my life maximizes in freedom and happiness, and minimizes cost and ecological impact. I figured I'd join up here so that I can explore the...
