    Inherited New RV/Camping toilet

If you are the Large Marge from Pee Wee's Big Adventure, then, sir or ma'a'm, or both, I will pocket that wisdom for later. O'Doyle rules?

    Inherited New RV/Camping toilet

My uncle, who was building a van just like me, passed away and my aunt gave me his BRAND NEW toilet. I do have a space I can squeeze in a tiny bathroom, shower area in my van, however.... It is not self composting, it has a flush tank. Should I sell it and reserve the space for other use? I...

Battery Storage When Not In use

I have two brand spankin new Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. I don't know a lot about batteries in general, but they've been sitting in my room until the wintery weather and it's time for them to "leave". I'm not ready to use them still, but how low of an overnight temperature is dangerous...

    Slab City

I'll let some greedy corporation handle that, because they will. I just want to wander and go fishin'.

Just read more replied. Yikes. Or "Great Scott!" if you prefer. Gimme my pine trees and squirrels please.

    Slab City

After everyone's input: HARD PASS. I don't think it embodies the van life experience. Sounds like a lot a risk. And on the cynical side, I can just stay here, go to the dump and buy a meth head coffee afterward.

    Slab City

I'm not looking for "long term" opinions. I don't want to live there. Just want to see the place. The short term opinions are enough for me to for my consensus. Thank you.

    Slab City

What it sounds like to me is it's like going to Chicago, only I don't have spend as much money, yet still lose it if I'm not careful (again, just like Chicago).

    Slab City

Has anyone been to Slab City. I'm asking for do's and don'ts, general advise about going there. I heard there's a lot of drug crime (to be expected). Can I go there (are they welcoming to outsiders?) I know nothing about the place, and figured first hand experience was better than Googling.

    Moisture Barrier for Laminate Flooring

I haven't looked into it too much. Does anyone have a moisture barrier below their laminate flooring. I have 3/4" plywood as my sub floor. I'm installing the floor today and thought I'd ask before I go ham installing it.

    Solar Panels Sitting Idle

I had some health problems with a family member come up that required me to house and dog sit for 3 months. I have not hooked up my solar yet, as I have had other commitments after that are priority over the build. I've been nervous about the my panels sitting idle with no connection. The are...

    Back To The Grind

I have kept the option of finishing on the road open, but I'm almost done. I'm going to push it out here at home and be done with it. I'm actually tired of building, so the sooner the better.

    Back To The Grind

I used to live in Hawaii. Miss it very badly. I don’t wish to be political either. However you don’t need politics to discuss the issue. Whoever is doing this is a “They”, and #1 “They” don’t care about either side of the political isle either. They’re using it to divide us and tighten the...

Seeking advice on a Chevy Express / GMC Savana

I won't tell you what the best option is. There are people on here who know far better than I do. I'll only share personal experience. I have a Chevy G10. It's not an Express, and it's a little bit of a different animal as far as builds go. And that actually is the thing. It's rounded...

    Back To The Grind

On a Facebook group, I got intel on the beat harvest, which of course is long hours. I'm not estranged to 12 hour days, however, I may end up finishing the van at that time. I sort of wanted to celebrate the finish line by traveling first before I use it as merely a utility to go to work for...

    Back To The Grind

I've been away from the forum a while. I also had to step away from my build. Back in January my aunt became ill and I had to house-sit and dog sit. It was out in the middle of farm country, and I had limited opportunities to leave the house. So, a three month delay. I had also met someone...

Any well enjoyed recommendations for stops, aside from Roswell, Carlsbad, and White Sands?
