Just let him drag the leash around for a while, if circumstances permit.

A muzzle will help prevent chewing when he's unattended.

Good luck!

Important Key words “no pull dog harness”

Leash freezing… if you are using a leash on a collar that might be the issue, it chokes the dog and makes them freeze. When the mom picks a puppy up
by the scruff of its neck the puppy freezes position. That is what Milo is doing, he is reacting naturally to the pressure. There is a better solution for him. Get a harness that has a D ring for the leash on the front of their chest. Do not get a harness with the hook on their back either. But you might be able to sew a D Ring to the chest area of a harness that only has a ring on the back behind the dogs neck.

The no pull dog harnesses make leash training a lot easier for the dog and for you.

By the way the no pull harness is also the best solution for leash training a cat. The too will plant themselves and freeze from pressure in their back and/or necks.

If there is another dog Milo likes you might try walking them together. Dogs learn from dogs.
I've never had much luck with 'no pull harnesses' on beagles; they either have to be on so tight as to constrict breathing or the chest D ring slides to the side and they continue to pull. But then beagles are stubborn and single minded focused on whatever they are after.

Milo created a lot of canine drama! Hope he finds a good home! Getting things cleaned up and organized around here...even planted a few vegetables, onions, radishes, and leaf lettuce...ad Auggie is being good and leaving them alone...he's got his catmint, that's another story!

Just submitted my first two weeks of hours... 12 of 15 sites occupied over the weekend... Chilli is doing so well... she has met many new people in the last couple of weeks and her jumping tendency is less and she doesn't get as wound up with new folks. She also is dealing well with the horses... she will bark when riders come by but not for long and the horses just hanging out over in the camp don't interest her at all.... so far, not much wild life.. a few squirrels and riders have seen deer and elk.....

The oak trees are just now starting to leaf out....

..this is a bush I saw in Cottonwood

Yesterday morning the coyotes got something.... it was quite the auditory performance... just a reminder of how vicious nature can be.... and yes, walkies stay close to camp. Chilli continues to come when called.

i will be leaving Pahrump tomorrow and am so sad about Milo. Doug will be here a little longer and will continue to give him food and water, Trish is still trying to help him find a home. I could call the shelter but don’t think they can catch him, also it is a kill shelter. None of the other rescues have room. He sure would be a good friend for Chili Dog!
