Hello fellow, nomads, it’s been an interesting week here in the hospital. My blood platelets are almost 0 so I’m bleeding and bruising a good bit. They’ve done all sorts of things to me this week, including give me four units of donated platelets, a whole bunch of other drugs and I V ,including a chemotherapy drug. Although I do not have cancer, they use the same drug for this immune disease that I have. It. Has not been determined yet how it happens, but my platelets are destroyed as fast as they are made. They are concerned that if I fall somewhere and hit something like my head, I’ll bleed internally and not be good. They just did a bone marrow biopsy and it’ll be interesting to see the result In a day or two. Meanwhile, they’re gonna make me stay here until my platelets are stable over the number 30 right now they’re at one. It looks like I’ll be here for at least another week. So I’m not a nomad I a” not mad”. God bless the nomads no matter where they are.

I sure do not like the sound of that Naturelover. That is some pretty serious stuff you are going through. Hoping the treatments start working for you very soon.

On a less serious note to give you a smile….Sounds like they might need to put you in one of those padded cells…

Stay safe.

Bumping.
Naturelover I hope your treatments are working out and you are feeling more energy.

It is Hot, high 90s this last few days at Lake Havasu AZ. No need for a blanket at night. It is going to be a challenge to stay hydrated unless I go jump in the lake 🤣 💦💦

Hello nomad friends this is my 15th day in a hospital. The goal is to get my platelet count up above 30 and stable before I leave. Normal is 150. today, Mine is at three. But it’s holding steady at 3 For the last couple of days. It had been 1 most of the time, in fact, the doctor showed me a slide that had no platelets on it. The fear is that if I fall and bump my head, I’m gonna bleed inside the skull. Ouch. So they’re planning on keeping me here at least until I’m stable at 30. The other day I can’t remember exactly when it was. I had a TIA or stroke, thankfully it was minor they took me down to ICU for two nights but I’m back up on the eighth floor penthouse. There are people up here running around feeding me poking me with needles and massaging my feet and and and oh it’s a hard life for a guy who is used to be out in the woods alone but I think I can take it. Thank you guys for caring

Sounds like you still have your good sense of humor and demeanor. Not sure I’d wanna be poked... but the foot massage sounds pretty good right now. Keep up the good fight. You’ll get there... are you able to get up and move around some? I know falling isn’t an option... take care.

Naturelover, glad you were in the hospital when you had the stroke. Of course having to go what you are going through is certainly stressful so maybe not surprising to have one. Get better soon and start eating that spinach. 👌

Glade to hear you are improving. Endeavor to persevere! Some times you can just outlast problems.

Hello nomad friends, I miss spoke about the “stroke“. One of the people around here in a uniform was saying TIA, which is same as stroke. I found out now it was bleeding in the layers of covering of the brain not the brain itself, so thankfully, not a real stroke, but some of the same confusion and weirdness, but much more easy to recover from.

speaking of recovering, I told you my platelets were at three for two days this morning they’re up to four and one step at a time we’re climbing up to a normal of 100 ha ha ha.

God bless the nomads no matter where they roam.

God bless you Naturelover even when you are roaming around a hospital checking out the cute younger nurses 😻

On the PBS app today. You can stream for free a program from “Nature” called “ The Hummingbird Effect”. It talks about the huge influence that tiny bird’s activities has on a wide range of the wildlife population.

This helps us keep perspective here Nature Lover. Life and health are precious and not things to take for granted.

Thanks for posting here and keeping us in the loop.

You're in our thoughts.

Maki2 - Thanks for the lead on that hummingbird show. I’m a subscriber to “Nature” but I haven’t watched that one yet. As a subscriber, I can open it up anytime and see full episodes, I usually wait till I can’t find anything else that I fall back on that one.

Today my platelet count is 37. On the way up. Now all we have to do is figure out which of the meds the doctor she used is working or if it’s a combination of two or more.

Naturelover, I am very happy to see better numbers on the platelet count!

Numbers up even further today - 37. Now it’s a big decision time. It was a nice try, but I think this is the end of my “nomad career” The doctor doesn’t want me too far away from him so he can monitor the situation. I need to remember and be thankful that that I got 3 1/2 years full timing after escape from the nursing home. God bless The Nomads, even those that only travel in their memories and imaginations.
