Heading over for a visit today. Be there early afternoon. Just a day trip this time.

Parts of southeastern Arizona in for hard freeze. Best prepare any by getting water out of any thing that might freeze or bring it inside to a warmer space!

There is a Tempest station in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. Oddly, it is colocated with a WeatherUnderground PWS at a local ranch, the WU PWS's id is KNVAMARG7. Maybe the ranchers decided to have a second weather facility to verify the weather readings from the first or a backup in case of failure of the primary.

The WeatherUnderground ten day forecasts for a local area often come from a "nearby" airport.

For Amargosa Valley, WU uses North Las Vegas Airport.

[Maybe be the same logic my Medicare Advantage provider uses to assign me to a primary care practitioner located in Las Vegas 150 miles RT, rather than one in Pahrump, 90 miles RT.]

The ten day forecasts for Tonopah, Nevada are based on data from Mammoth Lakes Airport in California, which is separated from Tonopah by distance and a mountain range along the Nevada-California border. Mammoth Lakes is a moist, forested area with the Owens River running through it, and Tonopah is arid high desert with no forests and no ground water.

HDR's go to website for weather prediction:

Maki, did you actually click on the tempest links?
Yes I looked and read and was mentally capable of comprehending the information.

I am fine either getting my weather report from the NOAA. Which also uses local weather stations for the current conditions. The one at the Quartzsite airport is close enough to where I am camped. When I log in there is a list of weather stations in the area I can choose from.

It's been cold and wet lately........hard to work outside.........using too much Propane !

I got the "Yakery" carcass painted just as the desert rain storm hit producing a unique wet dirt finish

The unit is in early Beta testing...."Film-at-eleven".....Markw is "surviving" in a HOWA provided tent

Brian/B&C arrived in his Roadtrek................and Tom/StarryNight drove in direct from NH

We had a nice visit from Paula/Shadowmoss...........and Mary a HOWA friend needs help with her little car

A lady with a $135k THOR van conversion stopped by.....Leaking plumbing.....water heater woes...lights blink
Such poor quality pipe fitting......Drain leaking from day-one....and the $$ All-in-One heat/water heater !
I suggested the THOR Service Center....she filmed me showing the pipe problem to Email the service writer

The BBQPorkButt (thank-you-Chip) potluck/campfire was finished AT dark because it was TOO damn Cold !

Arrrrrgh !

To add insult to "injury" the week we will be in Quartzsite it's going to be in the 60s there and the 70s here in So Cal.

It was good to stop by and see folks. Next time I'll stay overnight. Sounds like I missed a good time.

Slow speed internet has arrived. Another large group gathering is setting up on Plomosa rd

Took a trip into town for some diesel anti-gelling additive. No one in town sells #1diesel or kerosene so anti-gel was my best option. My diesel heater/stove was struggling to pump up the #2 fuel to the burner on these freezing mornings. It fires up fine in the early evenings when the fuel is warmer so it appears just to be related to the coldest time period of the day, early morning.

Naturally since I was close and it was pleasantly warm I went on further South on hwy 95 to visit Pirate camp where I had fun talking to friends.

Now it is time I get busy and measure out that fuel additive while the sun is still up and warm. At the kitchen store tent in Tyson Wells I bought a 1oz shot glass with calibrated markings on the side to do the measuring for the right amount of anti-hell per gallon of diesel.

Big Market has the smallest sized containers of anti-gel, they are the Gunk brand and priced at $7.99. The Loves truck stop has larger sizes from several other companies, lowest price there is $17.99. They are 32oz size for that price which I believe the label says 1oz is the amounts per 5 gallons heavy duty and 2.5 gallons for passenger car. No clue exactly what the measure per gallon for my diesel heater is going to be for nearly freezing temperatures. I will err on the lesser value as being more than is required per gallon.

Ham is pork which means you are having pork with more pork as the other meat option. You could have bacon too and make it three little piggies
