Stormy cool day, going to be a cold night. Eventually the cool weather and the thought it would be even colder tonight and in the early morning got me motivated enough to go into town to buy some diesel for my heater. Pretty sunset this evening, a few clouds always help for a bit of drama.

As to people not showing their face or saying who they are..we’ll neither have you. Your reasons for not doing so are likely much the same as other people’s reasons.
But you're mistaken. I do show not only my face but the rest of me as well. I can't recall where I was, but I got another driver to take my picture in the parking lot. I think a Walmart warehouse.
I'm not gripping about what others do or don't do. I just refuse to live in fear myself.
Today, I got a pleasant surprise - a passer by saw me messing with my solar stuff, on the roof of my trailer. She stopped to ask me about it. We talked where I learned that she had bought some deep cycle batteries for her travel trailer but did not know how to hook it all up.. She came in and saw my new stuff working just fine when I volunteered to help her with the cables, wire ends and all that other stuff.
Two hours later she was on her way with a working solar system. She was happy and so was I. So rather than just a picture, she got to see me in 3d whiskers and all.
Personally, I don't care what you look like or the cloths that you wear. I don't want to take anything from you. I don't expect you to force me to think like you do or walk the way you walk or believe your beliefs. Honesty goes a long long way with me-- and if you choose to "use me" then I've bought you really cheap. I think people like that are called con artist.
Money can't buy happiness. What happened to me today did!

I agree, nothing gives me greater satisfaction than helping someone in need. That’s why I like Camp Hosting, there is always someone who needs help.

By the way, Bella will be posting an updated profile pic as she recently had a Spa day. Lucky pup!

It's not fear, it's freedom. It's freedom from other people's idea of who and what you are. Outside of dating, my looks have nothing to do with anything. Looks are just a way for people to judge you, pigeon hole you, and stereotype you. "Oh, you're this age? Then you're this kind of person. Oh you're this race, then you're this kind of person. Oh you're this sex? Then you're this kind of person. Oh you dress like this? Then you must be this kind of person. Oh you're this weight? Then you must be this kind of person." Looks allow people to be intellectually lazy - to think they know who you before they've even spoken to you.

Personally I wish no one had their picture up except on the dating sub. Someone's picture adds nothing to the conversation here for me. I care about what have you actually done and how do you know what you know.

It's almost amusing how often people label other people's rational choices, which they happen to disagree with, as motivated by fear (or some other supposedly disabling emotion). It seems the less people know about the world, or about each other, the quicker they are to indulge in that sort of amateur-psychologist labeling.

Anonymity is a common practice in some types of online forums, for all sorts of good reasons. In any case, you can't expect to walk into a community like this (or any other) and find everything organized to suit you to a T.

Maybe make your own choices and respectfully allow other people to do the same.
Maybe instead of putting down things that are different from what you're used to, see if you can learn from them. It's a big world.

I just took down my photo in honor of your words. That was beautifully put. Thank you.

Let’s get real here. No one wants to be judged but everyone does it because it is part of basic survival, it is cellular deep. Bottom line is looks are also a big part of judgement in the animal kingdom world.

The Red Green show got it just right including about duck tape 🦆

Yes, let’s get real here. Everyone judges, and quite often about the wrong things. My survival has never depended on my visual judgment of others based on “type.” It *has* sometimes depended on my reading of body language. Body language is not a lazy judgmental shortcut like judging on type is—it is independent of type and deeply situational.

I have certainly found typing helpful to my comfort level. Comfort is a separate issue.

“Everyone does it” is not a sound basis for reasoning. “Animals do it” is logic that is applied so inconsistently as to be meaningless. In my experience, it is most often applied when we want to be comfortable rather than aspirational. I appreciate the values behind scaredycat72’s words.

*Whine alert*
So I have to get a medical boot to put on my foot and wear all the time for six weeks or maybe four months.
This is happening right when I was about to escape from Retirement 1.0, for which I believe the technical term is "a forking fiasco," and launch Retirement 2.0, for which I have high hopes and which involves(/d) doing a lot of walking and standing in the month of December ... also making a good first impression on a bunch of people who don't currently know me from Adam. Since I am very obviously three years older than dirt (no glamour shots for me), the last thing I need is any hint of physical infirmity during said first impression. people being how people are.

Also, walking is my favorite thing in the world. aaaaaaaaaaaa r gh...

Liftoff is still Nov. 24. It's not a deal breaker. It's just, I would have said my PITA card was full already. Sometimes when one door closes another door closes too. I'll sort it out. I may just over-eat and sulk for awhile first.
*End whine alert* thank you for listening

Just don't try to remove the boot too soon. Don't make whatever is wrong worse! BTDT...

Maybe a more relaxed holiday atmosphere will let them cut you some breaks.

Anonymity is the ultimate double-edged sword. It allows you to the emperor's lack of clothes without the need to worry about unjust repercussion. Anonymity also allows trolls to crawl from under their bridge and have no need to fear pesky billy goats.

Like most everything in the world extremes tend to lead to very unstable positions. However, finding the right balance is just as (if not more) difficult.

I thought getting the boot meant you had to leave Morgana... seriously though, I hope your boot works well... and does what it’s supposed to. I can reach over and shift left handed. But driving with a bum foot can be a bit harder... depending on the foot. I hope it heals quick and isn’t to serious.

Thanks Ben! Once I calmed down a little I realized that, once I have the boot, I'll be able/allowed to walk more than I can right now -- basically, as much as I want but I'm supposed to stop if it hurts -- so in a way it's a good thing. And apparently people do often heal up quite well from this (Achilles tendon). So it's probably not quite the doom and gloom thing it seemed at first.

Yeah driving might be interesting. I think I could probably take it off for that if necessary since supposedly you can't do any harm as long as your knee is bent. I will ask the boot lady; she seemed nice.

You are shifting with your left hand, wow!

I thought getting the boot meant you had to leave
That took a minute to sink in.:ROFLMAO:

I feel better. Thanks y'all!

No you haven’t, just as handsome now. But your son sure has aged!
A 58lb generator? That is a big one!

I gotta close this out. I was an engineer in the military- 6 years 6 months and 23 days.
Was distilling water for the grunts with my buddy, two trucks and some tanks for fuel and water storage - used for cooking, drinking and showers They bugged out and left me and Tommy to pack up our stuff. I got shot and Tommy carried me for two days till he got shot dead. Grunts saved me. Tommy was a black guy and like my bother. He gave his all for me. So don't get on me about keeping secrets. I'm proud of Tommy and thank him every waking moment for my life. He was from Texas, great people Texans. The nurses took care of me, The doctors took care of me. On the outside, I look like I look---- take it or leave it.
On the inside, you will find duct tape and stitches - not pretty so I wear shirts. But If I can carry you for a day or two, I will. no matter what you look like.
So boot away if it makes you feel bigger.
Ken

Carla, Everyone is just joking around using the expression for humor. Read back a ways in the thread and you will see the origin of it.
