You might also want to Google "youtube mp3 extension X" where X is the browser you use(Chrome, Firefox, Opera).

Check applicable Reddit threads too for recent advice/help/software suggestions. Just be a bit careful about trying to avoid malware by downloading from "reputable" sites like official FF, Chrome, Edge extension pages if possible.
Wow. I'm surprised Mozilla has that extension on their website. Audacity is working for me, so far. If I run into problems I'll try an extension. Thank you.

Was just looking thru this. Recently I put some links together in a sketch of a website for a musician I know. Some for writing lyrics, others organizing scores, some to DJ and others for podcast. It's free so if there is anything you can use....enjoy.

Ironic that you resurrected this thread today, because last night my truck was broken into and the music I put on flash drives were the only things stolen (AFAIK). There was even a dash cam sitting on the seat. They took everything out of the glove box. Anyway, two little flash drives that I kept in the built-in cubby beneath the dash. Surprised they even saw that cubby.

It took me days to record those songs. Grrr.
And... no back up, My fault for that.

Wow ! I thought about posting that site last week but I've had a lot going on since the beginning of July. Sorry to hear about your getting so ripped-off. Sounds like someone had an idea of what was in the Van.......to so specifically take just those things you mentioned.

Hopefully this won't happen again. Ever ! And I hope the links in the site may help you to rework what was lost and get it back close to it's original form.. Perhaps even backing them up on a "Cloud". Perhaps even keep a card with your media that states, "notice of copyrite applied for".

I should find some secure "Cloud Storage" links for music storage to add to that site too.

I know! But, the officer who took the report said they know who is doing it. The thieves check doors to see which will open. They are looking for valuables. Maybe guns? Anyway, he said they have stolen quite a few cars.

Also, I heard a car alarm at 3:00 am so I went out on my porch to look around. Was going to check my truck, but my dog and granddaughter followed me outside. Granddaughter is only 3 & couldn't sleep. Put her back inside and just turned my porch light on and off (just in case someone was in my truck at the time).

If I hadn't heard that car alarm I would be nervous about someone only stealing my flash drives:)

In my area we are big believers in street lights/dusk to dawn lights and dogs (that are outside and bark at night) Most thieves avoid such areas.

By the way I found and posted a free online "Cloud" called pCloud and posted a link to it in that website. 20 Gigs of free storage and a good quality player to play your music with there. So, there's ya a free cloud back up. :)

I have a bright porch light next to the driveway and have always parked next to it, because the doors on my truck don't lock. A few weeks ago my daughter moved here from out of town and plans on buying my house. She has a new car, so I let her park in that spot. Not anymore, lol.

When the driver's door lock quit working I took it into a repair shop. The guy couldn't fix it. He said it needed a pin that he couldn't get. I'm going to take it to a different shop soon.

Thanks for the link to pCloud. For a week I have been having a hard time with the storage place I use for my photos. I had no problems with it (Microsoft OneDrive) until I subscribed to it and started paying. It went downhill pretty fast. I only subscribed because I thought it meant the ads would be removed from my Hotmail program. I still have ads and my PC is borked.

There are still some old school locksmiths out there. You may look to their shops and see if they can help you. Often they have a lot of old parts & pieces and some of them go around the old auto salvage yards buying lock pieces before t he owner has them hauled off to the metal scrapper's. The Dealers call on these shops when they get an old vehicle that's been in a garage or barn for years. It's the same with old generators & starters or any auto electrics. So check around. And I hope pCloud works for you. :)

Thanks. There is a locksmith near my house. I'll stop by there.

I must be ridiculously old school. I just turn on my radio and scan as needed.

I'm pretty much like you when it comes to listening to music when traveling. But I have friends who aren't happy unless they are "making music" even if it is in their own heads. I'm kind of that way when it comes to creating websites or message boards. (or creating graphic art)

But when it comes to music, I'm more of an "appreciator" of it than a songwriter/musician.

I enjoy WOUB FM (on the net) which I can get on my Cell and pair it to my car/van sound system. "Below the Salt" and "Crossing Boundaries" play a lot of music that doesn't get much air play.

Check out Bandcamp.

Free to join. No subscription. You simply decide to purchase an artist's album or even just individual songs. Most artist will also sell CD and Vinyl and merch. Once music is purchased you can stream from the BC app or website. You can also download into your computer (or whatever have you) in a number of formats including MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc. Bandcamp has been known to focus on supporting the actual artist (I like that), but they tend not to carry all the big-name headliners. I will say that I have been very surprised by how many excellent musicians there are that you never hear anything about. Feels great to support them. Also, sometimes you can find great deals on albums that an artist has slated as 'name you price'. Truely. And frequently find compilations with 20-30 songs absolutely free. Anyway, I'm rambling.
