"America the beautiful" pass. worth it for me?

Corections: sorry 1 type-o and one misstatement. it’s recreation.gov! My Pisgah National Forest stay was at Lake Powhatan Campground and was one of the 5 from recreation.gov that didn’t honor my discount. They are or were privately managed at the time I stayed.

"America the beautiful" pass. worth it for me?

Quotes from this federal webpage: https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit/passes-permits/recreation-fees-passes “Concessionaires may or may not honor his pass, according to the terms of their current permit.” “Concessionaires may or may not honor the Interagency Annual Military Pass, according to the...

    Hello from NM

I sincerely thank people for all of the warm welcomes. Unfortunately I’m goig to leave the forum. In general I don’t actively participate in these types of forums because they seem to usually have too much community disfunction. Although, the majority of people are awesome, there is always a...

Unfortunately, I can’t laugh with ya on this one. It is hard! Life in a fixed box is certainly a lot easier to plan and budget for. Life on the road certainly sends you way more curve balls that you aren’t expecting, even if it costs less on average.

Staying South In Summer - Cooler Locations??

Hi Jason, For some reason I thought you said you would be boondocking. Are you familiar with the NM Annual camping pass? I’ve traveled most of the last year using my annual pass and I’m renewing it in a couple weeks to continue through September. I’ve had mostly great experiences with the state...

    12 volt compressor

I got a Viair 89P-RVS and it’s worked great for me. I’ve had cheaper ones in the past and what I like most about my Viair is how fast it fills a tire. The cheap ones you could hook it up and almost have a meal while you wait for it to do it’s job.

    Mexico Pharmacies

Quick couple questions for those who get their meds in Algodones. I know prescription meds are much cheaper but do the pharmacies also carry over the counter meds and supplements at a cheaper price? Also are their compounding pharmacies?

Staying South In Summer - Cooler Locations??

PS: gas prices seem to be lower in NM than many other states too. About the same as Colorado.

    Hello from NM

That sounds like a good setup. High enough you are surrounded by green and don’t have to worry about 90-100 degree days. I’m looking for something similar where I can stay 7-8 months a year and head to Yuma area for the winter. I’m limited to about 6000’ though. Unfortunately, I don’t tolerate...

Staying South In Summer - Cooler Locations??

I spent last summer in NM and found a plethora of great high altitude places ranging from 1 mile hight up to almost 2 miles high (c. 10,000’. I went all summer without any uncomfortably hot days and all of the mountainous areas of NM are absolutely beautiful. Here are a few great areas to check...

I’m not sure why this post would anger anyone. My apologies if I’ve been offensive.

State Park Pass is how I do it and have been successful so far. Pretty much all of the parks are open now so not an issue but, they are mostly reservation only since reopening so you have to plan ahead far in advance.

The crime in most of the cities here in NM are higher than the US average. Nevertheless, I have traveled NM for a total of c. 14 months in the last 5 years. I have never had any issues. People in NM are very kind and it’s a beautiful state. I had originally planned to settle down in AZ but COVID...

Welcome Sue, My plan is almost exactly the same as you. New Mexico in the Summer and Arizona in the winter. I’ve traveled NM exclusively ever since April 9th of last year and have experienced a lot here. I’m staying in State Parks using an annual camping pass. I’m here until September then plan...
