Anyone ever park for free at a fee based campground?

In WA the pay sites are usually at State Park CGs. Not all of them. Some free some pay. The Forest Service CGs are all the same. Pit toilets.... Without a park pass they give you like 15 minutes to park, run it and use the shower. Although I've never seen them ticket anybody.

What are people like on the Olympic Peninsula?

Years ago was driving and camping the OP. Stopped in Forks and talked with a local. Said there were drug issues with associated theft crime. Said one young man got disappeared as he kept breaking into the wrong same business. The people at the local stores and restaurants are always nice. Forks...

Anyone ever park for free at a fee based campground?

Ha, was camped at a NW Forest Service CG. Early one morning a young man was packing up. He came in late the day before. A Ranger shows up asking why he had not paid. Dude said he was going to soon... Ranger was pissed. "I KNOW WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO DO!" Ranger stood their while the kid...

    Must have gadget: Multi-device keyboard.

Just purchased a new (old) Logitech MK710. A wireless usb classic at a decent price. It only died because I spilled one to many cups of coffee on it and the keypad went south. Again.

    Van life at 25

Glad you had a good experience with WeatherTech. Mine was not that great. With my older Toyota Tacoma they apparently couldn't quite match my vehicle when ordering floor mats. So they just pretend to have what you want and send random crap. Not even close to fitting correctly. Agree on point...

    any kayakers here?

I have a folding Kayak that allows me to keep it in the truck. No exactly small but easier to transport than on the roof. It is a Feathercraft out of Vancouver BC. They are not in business anymore. These are not the cheap inflatable variety. They are often more expensive than regular kayaks...

Magnetic Spice Jars: Do They Stay Put?

Well, I own some, but they are on the frig not in the van. They have seriously strong magnets. My best guess is that they would hold but likely vibrate down. So if they rest against a counter or something they should work.

What are the unwritten rules about dogs in campsites?

Most human bear attacks involve off leash dogs. Dog spots bear and antagonizes it. Bear takes a swipe at dog who runs off. Slow human gets swiped by bear.

What are the unwritten rules about dogs in campsites?

It is never acceptable to let you dog run off leash in a public space.

    Any thoughts on crock pots?

I have crock pot, rice cooker, and insta-pot but vastly prefer my simple GSI pressure cooker. It looks like it survived 3 tours in a war zone but is dead simple. shorturl.at/pyAFU
