Getting Used To Living In A Van

I think we are all unique and have the right to try on different paths as we see fit to. I certainly have. That's what makes life interesting. While staring at the same 4 walls day in, day out isn't for me at the moment, as I grow older and possibly infirm, it could grow to be a comfort someday...

Getting Used To Living In A Van

I stayed at Rockhound State Park. It's only 14 bucks a night with electricity and water, plus a spectacular view. Otherwise I boondocked at Walmart. I had been on the road continuously for 3 weeks and I really needed that break. New Mexico sells a yearly pass for somewhere around $ 250 which...

Anyone on their own for Thanksgiving?

At a beautiful campground halfway up a mountain in gorgeous southern New Mexico, watching the sun come up over the mountains. My Thanksgiving feast will be cheese and chicken quesadillas, yum! And a very happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone here at CRVL.

Getting Used To Living In A Van

Hi everyone. First of all, happy Turkey Day.  I hit the road in my van three weeks ago today. She is running great, the only issue is the drain plug for the oil pan is stuck so I have to find a good mechanic somewhere here in southern New Mexico to replace it and do an oil change. And she now...

I have a dual set up too. It just makes sense to me to have some kind of backup.

    Chevy Electrical Puzzle

He went down the street to the parts store to get it, I just paid them, and then him after the install. The alternator isn't hooked up to the house bank at the moment. They are straight solar' This is a great guy, and a darn good mechanic and I told him so too.

    Women Only: Hi Everyone...

Well, the phantom electrical drain turned out to be a bad alternator, Just got a new one installed at less then half the price the dealership wanted. Problem solved! Now all that's left is too finish hooking up my solar, moving in and trying to figure out what I really need, what is non...

    Chevy Electrical Puzzle

Well, it definitely was the alternator. The local shop put the new one I bought for $136 and change in my vehicle for $125. Way better than $750 the dealership wanted. Problem solved! All that I have left to do is hook up the rest of my solar setup and move in and I am ready to hit the road. I...

    Chevy Electrical Puzzle

My guess is that they saw me as naïve, perhaps a bit dim, and willing to pay big bucks to be "rescued". Nope. Not your typical old lady here. As my Irish friends put it "I didin't come down in the last shower of rain."

    Chevy Electrical Puzzle

As it turns out, according to the dealership, it's the alternator, which they generously offered to change over for me to the tune of $750.00. Ahhh, nope! The local, well recommended mechanic can do it for half that. If that doesn't do it, next is a battery cut off switch. Thanks for the...
