Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

Ah, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure how the pump knew whether it was city versus tank.  I'm going to see if I can feed a potable hose from my tote (probably the upper one, so gravity can assist) straight to the pump intake. That's presuming the pump is currently configured to draw from the RV...

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

Thanks Bullfrog! That sounds similar to what I want.  Biggest difference being I’d like to leave my rv pump where it’s at and just run a hose to it. I think it’ll work. Worst case scenario is I connect to the upper tote via the city water hookup and just get gravity pressure. I’ve never...

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

I have, but I would prefer to simply connect to my larger tote configuration rather than the little 30 gallon one. I already have the larger tote system in place. Especially since I’d probably have to remove the rv tank to properly fix it.  in a nutshell, IMO the amount of labor, materials, and...

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

Ok, so none of the ones I’ve had were ‘on demand’.  They were mostly pond or sump pumps.   Where might I find one that is ‘on demand’ small enough to fit through a 6” opening? I’ve never seen one at any local places. Obviously I’m not looking in the right places.

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

The rv tank only holds 30 gallons versus 275 in the IBC tote. I fill up the tote already. Filling the RV tank means fetching the small pump and extension cord and about 45 minutes of time holding the output hose in the fill port and makimg sure I don't overfill it.. Filling the tote means no...

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

Submersible pumps are not typically ‘on demand’. That’s why I’d prefer to use the one already built into the existing plumbing. It would be nice to use the kitchen faucet instead of pouring from a gallon jug (which is a pain). I can easily adjust the tote height and location to whatever is...

Alternative idea to onboard freshwater tank

I’m stationary in a 2004 5th wheel, and truck in my water filling 4 275gal IBC totes at a time for myself and my livestock. Last fall the drain nipple snapped off at the tank, leaving me with no running water inside. The water pump in the rv works, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to plumb the...

    Ahhh The Pleasure

I couldn’t help but chuckle for a moment. Not at your predicament, that sucks, sorry you’re subject to that. Hope you get a quieter spot when you move. I chuckled because I am also occasionally serenaded by a jackass. Literally. I’m stationary, on acreage, in a rural area. Someone nearby has an...

What do you do with your dog when you have to go shopping for food?

I invested in a MarCELL Pro for the hot season this year. I have a few animals inside and have fears of ‘what if the power goes out or the a/c fails’. It will call me if either the power goes out or the RV reaches a user specified maximum or minimum temp. You can pay annually (cheaper) or...

Gamma Lid bucket smells horrid inside

Just a suggestion, as I don’t see it mentioned by anyone. Pelletized pine bedding, marketed as horse bedding and available at tractor supply (other farm stores may have their own brand/version of it), is good for wicking up moisture. It’s also very compact and at around $5-6 for a 40# bag...

    Life in the woods

Hi all! Living in my 5th wheel since 2017 when hurricane Harvey hit here in Tx. Stationary (I don’t even have a tow vehicle for it) on my own (heavily wooded) acreage, not quite off grid although I’d like to be.  Recently picked up a ‘99 diesel pusher (a Bounder) very cheap, needs gutting and...
