Might as well buy a house!

Damn the whole wall is a slide out, which has another slide in it. Slide out inception! Way too big for my taste, although so is an average 5th wheel.

Alternatives to polyester for hot day clothing

Second vote for linen. I'm no textiles expert but every linen shirt I've had has been super comfy in the heat, and I overheat easily and sweat like a pig. I wish they didn't look like wearing a wrinkly dish rag though. Doesn't matter when boondocking however! 🤔

The State of the World, and Life's Real Questions

As for long lost advanced civilizations I think north America is a good candidate. During the last ice age a glacier advanced southward and ground down everything in it's path to cover most of the land. Any traces of civilization would likely be totally destroyed and/or buried. Could very well...

    Slab City

Haven't been able to find any, not sure if charges have been filed or anything yet. It was pretty big news in the slab community not too long ago

    Lesson

Great cautionary tale. My greatest fear is not to loose my vehicle/home but to loose my cat. Can't get insurance for that. Because of the cat I am far more careful than I would otherwise have been. Three smoke alarms of different brands all within 5yrs old spread around the truck. Two carbon...

    Slab City

Imagine, thousands of people in RVs and trailers that never move all gathered in one area. They have water trucked in. What do you think they do with their black tanks? Some dig trenches or holes. Others just dump somewhere a little bit aways from their trailer. It all dries up getting baked...

I Need Some Advice On T.V. Service In My Van

That does seem like a great deal, although data caps and throttling are different. In other words, even with no data caps they could still throttle you.

OK, How Much Electrical Will I Need To Power A Laptop & T.V. For 24/7

Here's what I did in my box truck, it will be a little more difficult in a van but the same principle applies. I built a box that opens to the outside via a vented door, I used an RV refer vent set into a larger door made of plywood. The inside is Hardy board over 3/4" ply. Then 2" of polyiso...

Minivan - Portable Refrigerator - Dashboard Almost Burning Up

It does not appear to be a standard cig lighter plug, here are the two prongs zerpersande mentions. Notice there is no metal sleeve on the inside for a standard cig plug but there is two female slots for prongs. My guess would be they just used the same plastic housing as a standard plug, which...

    Inverter size and brand?

Best option would be to use a fuse block for your DC distribution. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Systems-Blade-Block/dp/B001P6FTHC?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Your charge controller output would go to the battery terminals, then...

    12/24V Air Conditioners, Any success?

Have been in a pickup camper with a zero breeze, it was unable to cool the interior on a mild day. No experience with the ecoflow wave, but it's nearly twice the btu rating of the zero breeze and almost as much as a small window unit. I think you'd have much better luck with one of those...

    Tubthumping

Oh that makes more sense, I was thinking it was one of those Econoline based shuttle busses and it seemed shockingly high. Still crazy! And sorry I didn't say before but I'm glad you are doing better! I'm new so I don't know you but it's always great to hear of things improving for people 🙂

    ExpeditionVehicle build

IMHO.. "Society" has lost its right to determine whether I am behaving or not. "Society" is sick with greed and indifference. "Society" has no moral leg to stand on to be lecturing me on my behavior. I refuse to needlessly hurt people or take advantage of them. I care about animals and the...

Feasibility of filtering gray water for drinking again, using a gravity-fed filter system?

Reusing gray water for washing/showering will save water. Drinking it won't because that water is being removed from the system. Say you start with 25gal of water and use it for drinking and washing all in one system. Say you drink 1 gal per day and keep the last five gallons in the system...
