E450 Cutaway Dirt Worthy?

To my knowledge, the interior height of schoolies wouldn't accommodate me standing up straight (6'5'' in bare feet). My thinking is that if I'm going to pay more initially and more in fuel and more in repairs, I'm going to get a rig I can stand up straight inside.

    E450 Cutaway Dirt Worthy?

This is all very helpful. Thank you for the departure angle info, Bob. I'll not look at RVs the same again. In fact, I don't think I'll give a second look to any rig over 24 feet. Maybe 22. I'll need to figure out exactly how far back and in what backcountry I'm happiest boondocking. I don't...

    E450 Cutaway Dirt Worthy?

Thank you, all of you, for providing such valuable input. Prior to making this thread, I didn't consider the distance between the rear axle and bumper to be prohibitively long, but your comments have enlightened me. The same goes for its mpg. Box vans don't get more aerodynamic than this...

    E450 Cutaway Dirt Worthy?

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/4832215891.html I need advice from more experienced BLMers than I. I am looking for a rig I can walk around in (I'm 6'5''), and so I figure my options are narrowed to Class A, Class C, Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels, Step Vans, and Box Vans. My style of...

    Honda Fit question

Yes, I crawl on all fours from the driver seat to the passenger side where all the body pillows are. I also save time by keeping the four tiny windows always covered. It has had a negligible effet on my visibility while driving. Before spending 15k or more on a car to full-time, stealth camp...

    Honda Fit question

Prius I have heard of at least one person living in a Prius. Towing The least expensive and most skill-building way would be to install the hitch on the Fit yourself.

    Honda Fit question

A Folbot kayak?! What do I look like, a Prius owner? How about an Alpacka pack raft? :-)

Ventilation needs vary nightly, based on temperature, humidity, security, stealth, etc. If I feel the need for ventilation at all, I typically lower the windows to the level of the rain guards and set...

    Honda Fit question

I'm glad you like the setup. More than seven feet of body pillows cocoon my frame in a way that no mattress can. My folding bicycle is a Dahon Vitesse D7HG. I store it inside a soft trunk on its end behind the driver's seat. I am always attempting to move in the direction of greater efficiency...

    Hatchback Dwelling

Thanks for the photos :-) That setup would take some serious time to prepare for the night while traveling, but it seems to be a decent boondocking setup.

It's like beauty; do the best with what you've got.

Cardwelling tips requested

Living in a subcompact, I look to the world of ultralight hiking for inspiration: alcohol stove, eat fresh first, sleep system, skills not stuff.

    Honda Fit question

I live in a white 2010 Honda Fit Sport. I traveled around the Eastern US with it in 2012 and recently traveled across the country to the 2013 winter RTR in it (boondocking in the desert from the 7th to the 23rd with the best neighbors on Earth). I'm still on the road and plan to continue...
