RTR location? what is going on?

This guy just posted a video on the new RTR location. BLM just cut an access road in there recently. Looks pretty iffy to me, drive your rig through 2 deep washes with trees in the sides. One main way in and out of the main area? Strange. Maybe someone can figure it out. ??? -

    Learning curve to drive van?

I was flabbergasted after getting the Savana on how poor the visibility is around the back. The mirrors don't help nearly as much as people seem to think. On looking at my van, the mirrors hardly stick out much further than on the regular cars around here. OTOH, there is a pickup truck next to...

BLM, LTVA, etc... close to walmart with good internet

Not to worry. Just throw a dart anywheres west of central Colorado. Probably half of the area in the west is mountains, and the mountains are full of towns. I searched on towns over 5000' high, and came up with a list 100 towns, and they're all over 7500' in fact. That's just for starters. -...

BLM, LTVA, etc... close to walmart with good internet

Roger, in the areas around Quartzsite, Parker, and Lake Havasu City there are BLM areas close enough to town that you can probably get internet. And especially if you get one of those directional antennas with a booster. In regards your medical issues, it sounds like the best way to go is to...

    Learning curve to drive van?

As usual, I basically disagree with most of the previous comments, LOL. I've been driving my van for a year now, GMC Savana with "both" side door and rear door windows, and there are still ENORMOUS blind spots with this thing. I am constantly amazed at the difference in rearward visibility...

    Legal Threats to Medical Insurance?

To add to what Moxie said ... I currently have Humana Advantage at $80/month. This on top of the $135/month that comes right of my Social Security for basic Medicare coverage. I am equivocal about Advantage, and my personal doctor says he will be getting Supplemental when he starts. Of course...

BLM, LTVA, etc... close to walmart with good internet

I have minimal solar in my van, so no refrigerator, just a small cooler. In the summer time, ice will last maybe 3-4 days. So I will get perishable food for that period and then transition to canned and nonperishable dry after that. Check some of the threads on "non-refrigerated foods". I could...

    83 Chevy Carburetor Issues

Short of replacing the engine, $3000 maybe (???), there may be some things that need fixing and can be fixed without a huge deal of effort. Maggie did manage to drive the van from Idaho Falls all the way down to Ehrenberg, apparently on I-15. You'd think there would be people around with older...

Could also be a break in the insulation on the ignition coil. I had that once on a 20-YO vehicle. Was able to see a spark jumping to ground when it was dark.

    83 Chevy Carburetor Issues

Bob Wells has been talking about setting up a fund to help people like Maggie. Luckily RTR is just a few weeks away, and HDR will no doubt seek her out. I hope.

    83 Chevy Carburetor Issues

VB, given your experience, you're probably not gonna get much disagreement. People here were wondering what the situation was, and didn't have much data to go on. It's good Maggie has found some help.

    83 Chevy Carburetor Issues

One would not necessarily expect that either. So far, actual facts are very sketchy. The other thread just adds a bit more perspective. "Truck not run good" doesn't help much from 2,000 miles away.

    83 Chevy Carburetor Issues

You might be interested in taking a look at the original thread, post #27. Apparently the van has some after market carburetor which may not be well suited to the vehicle. "Gas mileage sucks big time". In case you know about carburetors. - https://vanlivingforum.com/showthread.php?tid=33922

    That's very encouraging.
