I'm a long-time camper, photographer, road-tripper. Have backpacked quite a bit when younger, so I like the minimalist aspect of having what you need on your back. I've taken road trips for decades working on professional photo projects in all corners of America. I never much liked car-camping as far as staying in campgrounds with other tent campers. Someone referred to those as "motels without walls". Several years ago I outfitted my small Mazda CX-5 SUV for car camping with a stick-on tent and an air mattress. My wife and I did a few multi-day trips, but I was mostly solo. I added a better tent, folding foam mattress, power station, and stove in a rear kitchen unit. Lots of great new technology and ideas! My latest build transfers all this to 2015 Subaru Forester. It has a large moonroof, should be a bit plus for camping comfort! Keeping it modular to transfer to a future Minivan or larger vehicle.
