Hi! I'm Chris.
I first experienced the joys of vandwelling in a 1990 GMC Vandura conversion van. I was in my mid-20's, and winter was coming to Pennsylvania. That winter would have dealt the final blow, so I opened the escape hatch and landed in Key West. I stayed around for about 4 months, and it absolutely saved my life. I was happy. I'm a bicycle mechanic, so I got a good job. I met friends who I still have today. Tourist season is full of opportunity.
I returned to vandwelling for the winters. I returned to Key West like many others do.
Back in Philadelphia I rented a couple rooms, and had a couple situations, but I also spent weeks and months in my GMC.
Time has gone by. Six years. I've rented some rooms, and built a tiny house on my folks' land in the suburbs. I've gotten married, and now we sell books online. We can work on the road. Instead of settling down in PA, I opened the escape hatch again. My wonderful wife said yes - she'd like to live in a van too.
Here I am. I'm in a parking lot in Santa Fe with our two dogs. When Kristin gets back we're going to cook (warm up) some breakfast and decide which direction is next.
