    cooking simple food in car

We use some freezedried or dehydrated things too. Be careful if you have hypertension, though. A lot of freezedried foods are very high in sodium.

    Internet question for dummies (me)

Hi, Jay's. We use the cricket pay-as-you-go service plan, paying $90 a month for 2 phones with the hotspot option with 15 gigs. We can drop more gigs as needed by buying an additional card, but I can only remember having to do it once in the last decade. You just have to make sure the phone has...

    cooking simple food in car

Makita makes a kettle that will heat soup or water that runs off one of their power tool batteries. You can also heat soups in a rice cooker powered by an inverter. Also, download fast food apps to find deals. We had roast beef & swiss subs with au jou Makita makes a kettle that will heat...

Other than knowing to charge them with a trickle charger, I'm not terribly familiar with them.

Keeping the battery charged is my main concern. We run the inverter off the car battery & let the alternator charge it while running. We can't run a genny inside the van, & there isn't anywhere to put one outside it. But the deep cycle batteries do sound like a good idea. I've read some things...

    Nine things nomads never need!

I still need a snow shovel. Have went to sleep with clear sky & woke up to 30" of snow.

Cooking an egg with a mini inverter+ battery

I made quesadillas in the Aroma just a few weeks ago. Was also surprised to discover I could brown meat in it despite reading several people online saying it was impossible in a rice cooker. It's a versatile, low wattage cooking tool, & very easy to clran. Will occasionally hook the air fryer up...

how we secured the rear of my chevy express

Alaska has high crime, especially theft. Our primary deterrences are a large firearm & an insanely territorial terrier/beardog cross.

    Going to Alaska in 2022???

The mosquitoes are so much worse in Alaska than in Texas & Louisiana. We also have literal clouds of noseeums. We use Thermacell & also a mosquito fogger around wherever we park. The Thermacell fuel pods can be refilled with a little modification & the chemical pads used can be resoaked & reused...

Thanks. We have already wintered in Alaska in a tent & have done 2 years here in a Subaru outback. Have used a gas genny for aux power. Had a larger Yeti at the time but it finally died. When we first came up 16 years ago we spent 3 years above the Arctic circle where we picked up a few tricks...

    Moisture Barrier for Laminate Flooring

Thanks. I feel like I'm being paranoid. I've even speculated heat-shrinking some sort of barrier to the floor before adding flooring or having spray-on truck bed lining applied. We get the van in 2 weeks & will be racing the clock against the weather.
