Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

Just don't pull one out of a stream and heat it in the fire. They can explode.

How deep is it good to burry poop?

The reason to bury it 6-8 inches is for the aerobic bacteria to work. Too shallow, andit is easy for animals to find and dig up. Too deep and there is no oxygen for the aerobic bacteria to work. Another thing, in fairly wet, forested areas, it can break down in two or three weeks, in dry...

    Harbor Freight Solar Panels

YOU HAD TO TELL ME THAT DIDN'T YOU??? ;)I noticed something close to that as well. Pretty sure the Renogy panels were more expensive when I bought them. Now that I have these, I see they have the SAE, and not the MC4 connectors. Any savings I might have had, has been eaten up buying the...

    Harbor Freight Solar Panels

I know HF does not have a stellar reputation for quality equipment, but these solar panels seem to be a pretty good deal on sale @ $90. https://www.harborfreight.com/100-watt-monocrystalline-solar-panel-57325.html

Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

Don't overlook old school solutions. I am talking about the old fashioned soapstone foot warmers. Basically a slab of rock cut flat on both sides, then heated over campfire, propane, car engine, etc. Then place at the foot of the bed wrapped in a towel to keep you warm all night. Depending on...

    Holding Thinsulate in place

I used thinsulate in my steel high top Gemtop canopy. I used string to hold the thinsulate up and out of the way, while putting shiplap blue stain pine up. You only need 2-3 pieces of the string holding it up while doing the wood work. I tried the 3M spray adhesive, but it has issues. In the...

What's the cleanest, cheapest, most minimal eating I can do?

No, I was talking about the cubed beef. I just know that it is fairly tender when rehydrated. Just figured it might to to mush or gravy if cooked too long.

Anything I should know about driving out West?

As long as you keep the North Pole on your right side, you should get there. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

What's the cleanest, cheapest, most minimal eating I can do?

I am sure it would be fine in beef stew as long as you didn't cook the meat too long. Being it is already cooked, then freeze dried, it might just mostly dissolve into the gravy if you put it in at the same time as the veggies. I would try putting it in 10-15 minutes prior to eating. Also use...

I did it today. The first real step toward getting out of sticks n bricks and away from having my pockets pilfered.

If possible, stay in your rig as much as possible while building it out. Testing your setup like that will reveal to you things you may have missed, overlooked, or things you just don't like. A build is never perfect or complete. All builds are a work in progress IMO.

Found a van for sale with a sticker hiding the, "check engine" light

That "white smoke" could very well be steam, which may be a blown gasket or worse yet, a cracked block. Someone else mentioned getting it inspected. I wouldn't touch it without a thorough inspection. You might easily spend as much money, or more, getting it fixed, as buying one in good repair.

Can 2 adults be comfortable in a Pick-Up?

That depends almost entirely on the couple. Two fairly short people might be able to do it somewhat comfortably if you don't mind the hassle of the other person getting up in the middle of the night to pee. An older couple, not so much, especially considering the fact that the older you get...

    Showering at Campgrounds

I normally carry a metal and a plastic 5 gallon bucket with me. Plastic one is for pooping in, and the metal one is for heating water over a fire. That is also why I carry a Coleman Powerpack stove. It is sturdy enough to hold 5 gallons of water, and will warm a bucket of water in about 15...
