Before I retired I had to travel extensively for my job in the construction industry, when I bought my former homestead-homebase in 1993 my dream was to sell it when I retired then go traveling for fun. In 2021 I sold my longtime homestead-homebase but instead of traveling I started a new homestead journey renovating an old fixer upper built in 1939 and developing a rural one acre property in northwest Florida because after paying cash for new homestead my first priority was to remain debt free, so I had to choose between homestead without a mortgage or no homebase and buy an rv instead. I chose to have a homestead first, I feel peace in my heart that my homestead is mine without a mortgage. I am enjoying gardening, and DIY house projects, having space to let my dog roam free in my own yard. I do still want to be able to travel and someday in the future I believe I will be able to do that but stay debt free by selling my Jayco then maybe I can build out a van! The dream is still alive!
