My awesome Minivan-RV build, as shown in pictures!

Hey if you’re happy and comfortable that’s what matters. I’ve seen hundreds of builds all nice but mine would suit me. It’s totally personal. Cute little dog! Mine is a pocket pit who weighs 71 lbs. A guy at Petco asked me what she was and when I said a mini pit he said, “that ain’t no mini” LOL

Minivan Life - Urban exploring - NYC , LA, Chicago ?

As a Los Angeles native who had to live in my car (in a part of the county where I grew up and know intimately) I’d say no on coastal California maybe inland. Every square inch is being built up and real estate is obscene-my mother’s house which they paid $29,000 for in 1963 is now worth over...

    Duolingo

I studied Norwegian before during and after Covid in person (we ended up meeting in my teacher’s backyard) for two years. It was my 7th language (I was a bilingual teacher for ten years and have a secondary Spanish credential as well so languages are my thing) and used Duolingo just for accent...

    RIP highdesertranger

I knew he was a local. Our paths must have crossed without knowing. He knew more about SoCal especially the deserts than anyone I know. I remember him pm’ing me a couple of times perplexed because I was upset over some corrections in the forums and I came to like him and to hope to meet some...

    the tyranny of rent

This may not be totally on-topic but I think it’s relevant. I’m caring for my elderly ill mother in one of the most expensive coastal suburbs of Los Angeles (literally the most expensive because the schools used to be the best but since it’s an hour drive to downtown and two hours to the...

    What are you reading?

Did you read Code Walker? Fascinating book. I loved it. I will read it again someday.

    Choosing A Dog

Thanks Crofter. I know I keep saying this but shelters do temperament tests and Pits/Staffies more stringent than others. My current nugget got two 45 minute tests with 13 giant (but sweet goofy) Pits. She was trembling but stood her ground. They pulled her ears and tail, lifted her legs and...

    Pleasure way? Tofino?

I’ve noticed I’m more fearful and cautious than other female vanners about certain things (not all) for the reason above. So maybe I’m making too much out of it.

    Greetings from the North!

Hi I have two Finnish friends Kirsti and Sirpa. They got me interested in the beautiful forests of Finland and other things. Great country. Happy Trails.

    Choosing A Dog

Hmm, I’m on my 3 rd Pit or Staffie (sounds less dangerous and vicious LOL) and they are high energy because they were bred from several working dogs. They are exceptionally strong and either you must be physically fit or the dog well trained (we are neither) They need lots of energy and mental...

Don't assume the shower is cleaned

Edit: wandering soul you got here first. LOL Ugh. Never go barefoot. Especially if you have a sore or blister. I keep bleach or alcohol too.

Crofter's Online discussion and check in chat includes any health condition

94F and 51% humidity is miserable. I’ve been forcing locals to check our humidity levels at 94% last week and in the 80’s quite often. I can take 120F with 10-20% humidity (hello Phoenix) easily but the humidity kills me. I think it worsens my inflammation. Dry heat actually heals me. I hope you...

    Pleasure way? Tofino?

Dumb question maybe but as a woman is this type of shower safe? I was raped at 20 with a resulting tubal pregnancy (that started panic attacks and agoraphobia) and I’m probably less trusting and more fearful as a result. I know about outdoor showers but they’re scary unless I was in a campground...

    Choosing A Dog

Mixed breeds are healthier. Look up various pure breeds and see what they suffer from: everything from blindness to cancer specific to the breed. I’m a big dog person but a small dog is easier to travel with. Take aside a volunteer at your local shelter and ask which dogs have the best...

    ideas for healthy snacks?

I can’t eat a lot (only eat breakfast and before 11am) or drink much caffeine but a cliff bar and cup of coffee keeps me going all day when driving. Hard boiled eggs too. Any high protein.
