Rejection, PTSD and a song about being a nomad

Thank you. That was a beautiful song. I listened to it right after sunset at my campsite just outside the Grand Canyon. Yesterday I saw wild horses and at dawn a coyote passed by. Happy Birthday! And thanks for a great nomad share.

Are There Poop Bags That Don’t Absorb The Stank?

I use BOS odor proof bags. Tie a knot and it won’t stink up your area. I buy them on Amazon, they come in many different sizes.

    The negativity we are receiving

I ignored the negativity and went ahead and did it anyway.  This is my fourth year.  I still get negativity from family, who somehow think I want to live in their houses and hate pooping in a bucket.  I don't want to live in their stuffy houses and I don't mind the bucket.  I personally would go...

Just started with Visible and couldn't find a party plan needing members so I started my own.  I guess they fill up fast.  Here is the link to join: https://www.visible.com/p/Happyvan

Interesting article on homeless in their vehicles

I find myself constantly having to fight the idea that I’m not homeless, my vehicle is my home. So many people have a hard time with it, as the student in the article mentioned. I get looked at like I am in denial of reality. I’m starting not to care about what people think anymore because...

Water Storage for the suv/car nomad

I carry two three gallon containers in my suv, a Ford Expedition. They're kept in back of the front passenger seat next to each other. I pour some into a one gallon jug for easy dispensing. This is enough for my dog and I four 4 to 5 days, then I go into town anyway for groceries, laundry...

    Dog Left In Car

I have curtains I put up on the windows of my Expedition to block the sun and keep it cool inside when camping so I put those up when I have to leave my dog in the car (usually mornings, shade or cool days).  Also put the windows down about 2 inches.  Haven’t had LE called on me yet.  Thinking...

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

And eventually if we stay out long enough we will need to replace the entire vehicle!  I am listening to tropical storm Rosa hit my roof and I love it out here. I will be bringing my resume to the big tent this year in Quartzsite and looking online as well for my first nomad job.   That plus...

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

It seems people are trying to be helpful here but are missing the point.  We all know brake replacement needs to be done as regular maintenance.  That is an affordable repair.  Again, it was the upper control arm replacement that made it four figures.  That is not regular maintenance.  I have...

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

Thank you.  Do it yourself is a good idea in some cases.  It was an expensive repair because it needed upper control arms too.  It made a great difference in the steering.  I don’t think that is something that can be done easily outside a shop.  I understand brakes are maintenance like tires...

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

Good idea!  So if a person plans to drive 20,000 miles per year, have a $20,000 vehicle fund.  That would definitely do it.

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

I have learned the sudden large expenses is what can throw off a budget.  These are medical, dental, veterinary and car repairs.  A one or two thousand dollar emergency fund to cover all these is really inadequate.  It pays to control them, if you are one step away from homeless, with medicaid...

Real Life Emer Fund Draws 1yr 4mos on road

I started the nomad life on 4/13/2017 with a 2000 Ford Expedition. Total cost to purchase and road ready the vehicle with tires, tune up and needed repairs was $6797. This did not include the hitch rack, awning or any containers, shelving, etc. for living in the vehicle. The vehicle had 128,000...

    Forum topic suggestion - Spirituality

I do have spiritual/philosophical reasons for having sold everything for life on the road.  I don’t think the OP meant let’s start a thread where we can convert others to our way of thinking and be all pushy about it, yuck! But sharing the deeper meaning of why we are out here and anything cool...
