I need electricity for a small heater (its cold)~ prefer solar

Bob, it's not all about you. It's not about your girlfriend. It's about someone who sounds new, inexperienced and unprepared. It's only mid November and Kat is running into trouble,. What is she going to do in January?

    the Stock Market

I would be amazed at 19% being sustainable. I am even getting nervous about VOD. That's part of what went. I've gotten away from calls (or puts), too. I had been spending too much time without reliable wifi and had considered just getting into an S&P and leaving it alone. I go crazy when I...

I need electricity for a small heater (its cold)~ prefer solar

Sleeping bags inside of sleeping bags, hoodies, extra blankets, thermal underwear and wool socks, quilted mittens, oatmeal and hot drinks, hot water bottles and chemical hand warmers. Honestly, get a campsite with electric and showers and toilets for the 3 to 4 really cold months of the year if...

    General feeling of just existing

We all just exist, some of us in one place, some of us in another. Then, we stop. The trick is to put whatever meaning we can between the start time and the end time.

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Solo women and protection/safety on the road

The guys were shooting with a 38 super automatic at our friend's farm a few years ago. DH told me to fire as many shots into a milk bottle as fast as I could. I hit the bottle with number 1. By the time I reached the end, I was shooting the treetops. Hopefully that won't happen with a revolver.

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Solo women and protection/safety on the road

Looks like I will be using DH'S 45. I can carry it around in AZ, but they can't sell me one. They would have to send it to a dealer in FL and have son pick it up.

    the Stock Market

Never got into silver or gold. Not that familiar with the market sector. It's out of my comfort zone. I do have more knowledge of stocks. If I don't get too greedy, I do OK. I know it's been pooh-poohed here, but I have been getting about an 8-10% gain every year by moving in and out of a few...

    the Stock Market

Just sold my entire portfolio and took my gains. Market is on an over excited high after the elections. Once they discover that Utopia has not arrived and it will be more business-as-usual, they will start sulking and stock prices will drop. I will be readdy to buy back in.

    spooky action at a distance

I thought the unknown part was odd, too. Surely they could have identified an attack by bears or cougars. That leaves dogs or coyotes, and coyotes don't usually attack people, do they? A neighbor decided to really stir up my paranoia by suggesting that it might be a murder with the body left...

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Solo women and protection/safety on the road

Yes, DH and son are gun guys. I'm not. Simple is good. If I ever have to use it, I definitely expect stress to be a factor. I don't suppose concealing it would be a consideration. I only want it for solo hiking. Anything that hides it would make it that much more difficult to get at.

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Solo women and protection/safety on the road

I often hike alone. Not worried about other people. Don't know why. I just never have been. I have begun to get nervous about animals, lately, tho. Always carry bear spray when I am out alone and usually take the dog. Thinking about taking up DH'S offer of a gun. I hate that. It means one more...

    spooky action at a distance

Did anyone see the news article about the Wyoming woman killed by unknown predator(s)? Some think it may have been coy dogs or coywolves, which are more aggressive towards humans than coyotes or wolves and don't necessarily run when they know you are coming along. They are supposed to be...

Deadman switch!! - 911 auto dialer

Haven't priced it, but why not just get a Life Alert, especially if you are alone a lot? You won't always be walking around with your phone in your hand and your app on.

Deadman switch!! - 911 auto dialer

A lot of how you die will depend on how you lived. Hopefully, we will all make the choices that suit us.

    auto theft

Yes. When DH had his first Corvette, he had shut off switch that he occasionally forgot to turn back on. There was that moment before he remembered. A secondary switch on the fuel pump is what he would recommend for newer model cars. Thieves want a quick grab. They don't want to putter...
