Life On The Road w/Kids (Hi from CO)

It’ll be a few years before even the oldest boy is old enough to sleep in a separate space from one or both of us. We seem to have narrowed our search dow to getting a full size SUV (probably a Suburban). This would give us maximum flexibility while traveling, and would also work well for...

Remote customer service work while vandwelling

My wife works remotely, and has been able to do so while camping (while I took the kids hiking, foraging or paddling. The trick is to camp in places with decent cell coverage.

Seeking advice on a Chevy Express / GMC Savana

Yeah, the dealer has every incentive to tack on as many add-ons as they can. We’ve bought two new cars (Sienna and Highlander), and had to negotiate to get anything off. I recall talking the down a thousand or so on the Sienna, but not the Highlander (we paid that one off within a year anyway...

These vans came up in our search for a van too, though we’re looking at the passenger version. Thanks all for the info about the engine options.

Is there a version of the Sprinter crew van that I’ve missed? They seem to only seat five. With four kids, we’d need more seating. The Sprinter passenger van would be ideal if it had better towing, and if the dealer wasn’t adding a $30k markup to it.

    What are you reading?

I recently read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe. I’m simultaneously sad and happy that I didn’t read this when I was 20.

Life On The Road w/Kids (Hi from CO)

My wife and I live with our four boys (oldest is five) in Boulder, CO). We’re looking at getting a bigger van for road tripping and travel during the summer months when the kids are out of school. This will most likely start out as a passenger van (We’re mostly looking at Sprinter and...
