I am still camped near the site of the 2016 summer RTR (N 35.218454, W 111.723365) and this area is not affected by either fire. A ranger drove past me a short time ago, but did not stop. I expect if the fire was a concern he would have said something.
Kendrick Mountain is about 15 miles north...
I found an informative article in Wand’rly Magazine from March 2017 titled, “The Average Nightly Cost of RV Camping in the United States.”
It has a lot of data and figures about the current cost of campgrounds broken down by private, public, region, and individual states.
Some things are not...
Okay, the photos did it - I am on my way!
I’m in eastern Iowa right now and it will take me a few days to travel.
I will follow the directions Bob posted for the 2015 gathering unless someone suggests otherwise.

For those who resupply in Blythe I found water machines that cost $0.25 per gallon or $1.00 for five (nearby Glacier machines are $0.30/$1.50).
These machines are a half block west of the Smart & Final Grocery Store on Hobsonway in a parking lot next to Salinas Pharmacy (E. Hobsonway at S. 4th St.)
Thank you, Erin for organizing this!
I will be by and will bring some wood. I'm not sure what else I'm bringing, but I'll be at the store tomorrow and will think of something.

I take it you mean New York City (it would not be a state matter).
I found a couple of dated articles about the legality of living in in a vehicle.
This one from 2013 says there does not appear to be laws about it in NYC...
You are right: parking regulations in DC are stringent (and enforcement is tight).
I suggest staying in Northern Virginia - specifically, along Route 1 south of I-495 - and taking public transportation into the city.
That stretch of Route 1 (known as the Hybla Valley) has a lot of strip...
