For Julia Roberts movie fans ....

I haven't been to Mystic in years, but I enjoyed walking around, shopping, and dining out there during a few vacations.  I recall a really fun bar in the center of town, perhaps?  Good times.  Pretty town. Whenever in the Mystic area during the summer season, a must-do is having lobster at...

Where are you allowed to dispose of ziplocked / bagged up poop?

Nah, thanks but I don't really need to search for that anymore. I've done lots of research on that as well as other aspects of vandwelling over the last few years. My question wasn't really a question. It was an "I'm just sayin'" kind of comment.

Where are you allowed to dispose of ziplocked / bagged up poop?

I dunno. People scoop up after their dogs take a dump and throw that baggie in regular garbage cans.  Parents toss dirty diapers in any garbage can, too.  What's the difference between those and a vandweller's load, except maybe volume?

    1st night in my SUV

I appreciate what you're saying, but do you know NYC? A pee smell would hardly be noticed, what with all the dogs that pee on the curbs and sidewalks. Also, businesses are responsible for washing the sidewalks every morning and evening. They put soapy water out, scrub the sidewalk, and push...

    1st night in my SUV

Not too personal - I knew someone would ask, since I didn't mention it. Ok, so remember that I'm staying in a big city or a suburb. Plenty of bathrooms around. Sbux, other coffee places, diners, restaurants, convenience stores, etc. At this point, I don't have any kind of portable toilet...

    1st night in my SUV

Thanks for reminding me about a cot. I was thinking of getting one and had researched them, but forgot about that. There is one I know I wanted.

    1st night in my SUV

Last night was my first night sleeping in the SUV in NYC.   Oddly enough, I slept better last night than I did in the cozy, quiet suburb of my first two nights.  It could've been due to cumulative fatigue, after two nights in a row of not sleeping much, or familiarity.  I'm parked two blocks...

    1st night in my SUV

Thanks, everyone. I'm not feeling any remorse, regret, nor loss of control.  Not at all.  Since the defining moment came, when I decided to let go of my apartment and stop struggling with the landlord over many issues, I have not felt one smidgen of regret AND my depression just went...

    Hello from NY

Hiya hopeful70, I'm also based in NYC. I had to let my apartment go, too -- just last month -- and could not afford anything else, so I essentially became homeless. Fortunately, I received some money that I'd been due for several years from a court settlement, so I was able to fly to another...

    1st night in my SUV

So, it was... interesting.  I def need to rearrange some stuff I've got in there, but I do have enough room to stretch out in my sleeping bag, all the way to the back (I'm 5'6").  It was comical trying to slip from front to back without getting out of the car.  And when I say "slip," I mean it. ...

    1st night in my SUV

Not new here but new to van/car dwelling.  So, I bought an SUV.  Tonight's my first night sleeping in it.  Will post more about the car and getting ready another time - I just wanted to mark this night with a post here for my own reference.  I'm stealth parking in a quiet-ish suburban town known...

Seeking feedback on the pre-purchase inspection report for a car I'm considering

Thank you. I was hoping you'd weigh in. I will check those sites out. What do you think about the rest of the report summary?

Seeking feedback on the pre-purchase inspection report for a car I'm considering

The seller says it was regularly manintained by the dealer and didn't have the service reports when I first went to look at it, but has since told me he got them (hard copy), so I will be able to see them. I could also call the dealership, as I know which one it is.

    Typical fulltime vandweller

It seems to me that most North America-based vandwellers who participate here on this forum are really into boondocking or staying at campsites, and traveling mostly around the Southwest desert states. But I've visited some blogs of nomads who travel around to house-sitting gigs and visit towns...
