sounds like you have a good temporary set up now. I would go with the fuse panel idea even if your power source isn't set up for it. Some input adapter can be made. You have awareness of current (pun?) limitations but your future needs or supply might change. You may want to supply that...

I read your original post to have unrealistic expectations. My understanding is 100W panel at 17-18V has about 5.5A available to a controller. If your getting up to 10A into your battery, out of 200W of panels that is pretty good!
